PRIDE GP 2006 OPEN-WEIGHT SPECIAL RULES
PRIDE
If there is a weight difference of less than 20 kg between the two fighters, the lighter fighter is given a choice to decide whether to allow knee or kick on to the head and face on the ground.
PRIDE
If there is a weight difference of 20 kg or more, both fighters are not allowed to use knee or kick on to the head and face on the ground.
1st Round (May 5th, 2006)*

* If the fight results in "No Contest"

The fighter who is able to continue fighting will participate in the 2nd Round.

If both fighters are not able to participate in the 2nd Round, will nominate a fighter for the 2nd Round.
* If the winner of the 1st Round cannot participate in the 2nd Round due to injury:

The loser of the 1st Round will participate in the 2nd Round.

If both fighters are not able to participate in the 2nd Round, will nominate a fighter for the 2nd Round.
2nd Round (July 1st, 2006)*

If both fighters are not able to participate in the Semi-final Round, will nominate a fighter for the Semi-final Round.

The loser of the 2nd Round will participate in the Semi-final Round.

If both fighters are not able to fight in the Semi-final Round, will nominate a fighter for the Semi-final Round
Semi-Final / Final Round (September 10th, 2006)*
Fight time:

* will have a "Reserve match".
*If the Semi-final Round results in "No Contest", the fighter who proceeds to the Final Round shall be decided according to the following order of precedence.
1st Priority:
The fighter who is able to continue fighting in the same block.
2nd Priority:
The winner of the Reserve match.
3rd Priority:
The fighter who has lost in the different block.
4th Priority:
The loser of the Reserve match.
*If the winner of the Semi-final is not able to participate in the Final round, the fighter who proceeds to the Final Round shall be decided according to the following order of precedence.
1st Priority:
The fighter who has lost in the semi-final round in the same block.
2nd Priority:
The winner of the Reserve match.
3rd Priority:
The fighter who has lost in the different block.
4th Priority:
The loser of the Reserve match.
* If the final round results in "No Contest"

The fighter who is able to continue fighting will be declared as the winner of the PRIDE Grand Prix 2006 Open-Weight. However, the prize money will be equally shared by the 2nd place fighter of the tournament. (1st place and 2nd place fighters will receive a half of the sum of 1st and 2nd prize money each.)

Both fighters are obliged to fight again within six (6) months after the "No Contest" fight.
Other notes:
1. Due to the tournament style, please keep in mind that the loser of any fight may have a chance to participate in the next Round. However, in any case, fighters who lost by KO or by violation of the rules will not proceed to the next Round.
2. If anything not mentioned above happens during the events, shall have the sole discretion to make its decision to operate the event smoothly and properly upon the consultation with the rule committee, the event officials and the doctors.
